Canada again expressed its commitment to Marriage Equality on Thursday December 7th, 2006 when it soundly rejected a motion to reopen the marriage debate.  Promoters of hatred and inequality were defeated in the 175 to 123 vote.  We must continue to fight to stop hatred, but we have the hope and know the Equality is here to stay!

Prime Minister Harper said, "We made a promise to have a free vote on this issue, we kept that promise, and obviously the vote was decisive and obviously we'll accept the democratic result of the people's representatives. I don't see reopening this question in the future."

The majority of Canadians also opppse efforts to stop equality, with 58 percent of people polled expressing that same-sex marraige should continue to be allowed.  Legal experts had also questioned the ability of banning gay marriage without overiding the constitution.

Now, we can be sure in the continued equality in Canada.  We have the hope and show the light to other countries that hatred will not be tolerated.  Hope Wall is dedicated to showing the hatred can be stopped and that equality will prevail and is happening across the globe.  With all our efforts, activism, and donations we can stop hatred!
